Subsurface structures along western Yucatan from integrated geophysical analysis

چکیده

Integration of seismic, gravity and magnetic data revealed variations in crustal architecture along the Yucatan passive continental margin. The crust beneath salt basin is ~10 km thick primarily a lower crust. In contrast, Campeche thicker comprises both upper layers. These explain strikingly different tectonic histories these basins outlined by previous authors. rifting margin was associated with extensive magmatism expressed as voluminous igneous intrusions crust, one which manifested anomaly. zone extrusive volcanic flows also interpreted northern coincident Seaward Dipping Reflectors (SDR) seismic data. Integrated analysis potential fields demands high density susceptibility for rocks SDR zone. pre-salt sedimentary up to 5 sediments overlies stretched intruded adjacent Ocean-Continent boundary (OCB). This 100 wide pinches out at northeastern tip peninsula. It appears be compartmentalized width individual segments km. All elements, namely OCB, SDR, basin, magmatic within have their counterparts Gulf Mexico therefore represent important constraints pre-breakup locations blocks.

Geophysical subsurface imaging for ecological applications.

Ecologists, ecohydrologists, and biogeochemists need detailed insights into belowground properties and processes, including changes in water, salts, and other elements that can influence ecosystem productivity and functioning. Relying on traditional sampling and observation techniques for such insights can be costly, time consuming, and infeasible, especially if the spatial scales involved are ...

Geophysical imaging of subsurface structures in volcanic area by seismic attenuation profiling

Geophysical imaging by using attenuation property of multichannel seismic reflection data was tested to map spatial variation of physical properties of rocks in a volcanic area. The study area is located around Miyakejima volcanic island, where an intensive earthquake swarm was observed associated with 2000 Miyakejima eruption. Seismic reflection survey was conducted five months after the swarm...

A geophysical correlation between near-surface radioactivity and subsurface faults detected by gravity method for a region located In the western desert of Iraq

This research study deals with the processing and interpretation of the total Bouguer anomaly and the total count iso-radiation data for a region located in the western desert of Iraq. The research aims to delineate the approximate locations and the effective depth of faults and how does rocks radioactivity act nearby the faults. The graphical method adopted to separate the residual fields...

Geophysical Studies of Basin Structures along the Eastern Front of the Sierra Nevada, California

A seismic and gravity survey along the eastern front of the Sierra Nevada, California, between southern Owens Valley and the Garlock fault, outlines a series of basins with maximum depths ranging from 5,000 to 9,000 ft. These basins follow the front of the Sierra Nevada in a continuous chain with one interruption of about 10 miles near Little Lake. The gravity anomalies indicate that the basins...

A new plan to connect aluminum tubes of subsurface structures

In this study, a new method for joining aluminum tubes in subsurface structures using steel converting and aluminum welding are presented and reviewed. But near the weld area is under high thermal cycle and will cause residual stresses in heat affected zone. Therefore for assessment of proposed connection from the perspective of residual stress by using the finite element method welding of tu...
